Of the 12 candidates for Junior Prom royalty, seven were members of the Titan Track TEAM. Lindsey McFarland and Tyler Phelps were selected as the King and Queen. Daylyn Johnston, Rylee Garver and Wade Rasmussen were chosen as attendants. Morgan Costley and Nick Winegar were also finalists. Congrats to all on some well-deserved honors. NORTHRIDGE/ROY TRI-MEET
The Titans overcame some severe weather conditions to easily defeat Roy and Northridge in a tri-meet held at Syracuse. Many Titans were running different events than normal for training or ranking purposes, but the results of the meet were still impressive. WOODS CROSS INVITATIONAL
The Titans were a little short-handed for the state qualifying meet held at Woods Cross Friday. Nevertheless, they held their own against some tough competition. The Girls finished 2nd behind Davis while the Boys were 3rd trailing Davis and Maple Mountain.
Sasha Russell had a very good meet winning the 200m dash in a school record time of 26.17. She also ran 15.80 to finish 2nd in the 100m hurdles. Mayra Franco ran 12.76 to win the 100m dash to tie her school record. She came back to finish 2nd in the 200m dash in 26.47. Lindsey McFarland ran 59.47 to win the 400m dash. Sasha, Mayra, Shelby Cadwell and Kelsey Westbroek ran 50.67 to win the 4x100m relay. Sasha, Kelsey, Lindsey and Rylee Garver ran 4:12.24 to finish 2nd in the 4x400m relay. Rylee (1:01.30) and Shelby (1:02.39) finished 3rd and 7th in the 400m dash. Cambria Bitter cleared 4'08 to place 3rd in the high jump. Mary Pauni was 3rd in the shot put (33'05) and 5th in the discus (86'06). Lindsey, Shelby, Shelbee Lerohl and Daylyn Johnston finished 4th in the medley relay. Daylyn, Danielle Parker, Morgan Costley and Erika Hansen placed 4th in the 4x800m relay.
Chris Jackson had a great meet winning the 300m hurdles in a school record and state qualifying time of 40.28. He also finished 2nd in the 110m hurdles (15.80). Other first place finishes came from Tyler Siddoway in the 400m dash (50.50), Jake Rossmango in the 1600m run (4:29.6) and Austin Costley in the 3200m run (9:48.50). All three times were just off the state qualifying marks. Hunter Naisbitt won the shot put (48'11) and was 4th in the discus (129'04). Jake Zaugg (11'00) and Zach Watson (10'06) were 4th and 5th in the pole vault. Kuyler Thompson threw 144'09 to place 5th in the javelin. Preston Williams (2:00.4) and Tyrell Pearce (2:02.1) were 4th and 5th in the 800m run. Chris Brown placed 3rd in the 400m dash (52.70) and 6th in the 200m dash (23.62). Jamison Nielson placed 6th in the 110m hurdles (16.94) and 7th in the 300m hurdles (43.97). Jackson, Brown, Jayden Peterson and Taylor Russell finished 5th in the 4x100m relay. Jonah Lewis, Alex Vanderloo, Matt Dunston and Jaxon Hansen were 4th in the medley relay. Brown, Jackson, Pearce and Williams placed 4th in the 4x400m relay.

CLEARFIELD/LAYTON TRI-MEET
Both Girls and Boys dominated the tri-meet held at Syracuse Wednesday. The Girls scored 107 points to Layton’s 41.5 and Clearfield’s 18.5 The Boys were equally dominant as they scored 109 to Layton’s 36 and Clearfield’s 33.
In Girls action, Mayra Franco won the 100m dash in a school record time of 12.81. She also placed 2nd in the long jump (15'08) and 200m dash (26.98). Sasha Russell won the 100m hurdles (15.91) and 300m hurdles (50.92). Rachelle Holden won the high jump clearing 4'10 and was 3rd in the long jump (15'00) and 4th in the 100m hurdles (19.30). Jessica Pauni captured 1st in both the shot put (33'08) and discus (95'07). Mary Pauni was right behind in 2nd in both events (30'06, and 83'02). Shae Stoddard placed 4th in the shot put (28'06) and 3rd in the discus (75'00). Laura Yacks captured 4th in the discus throwing 61'05. Sarah Lockyer was 3rd in the javelin with a toss of 63'06. Cambria Bitter cleared 4'08 to place 4th in the high jump and placed 3rd in the 100m hurdles in 19.29. Kelsey Westbroek was 4th in the long jump (13'06), 3rd in the 200 (29.25) and 4th in the 400 (1:06.30). Lindsey McFarland (51.42), Morgan Costley (56.72) and Shelbee Lerohl (57.15) placed 2-4 in the 300m hurdles. Danielle Parker’s 2:51.6 was good enough for 3rd in the 800m run. Kiana Tebbs won the 3200m run (12:43.4) and was 3rd in the 1600m run (6:15.9). Mikelann Wilcox placed 2nd in the 1600m run (6:11.0). Haley Busby (14:01) and Joy Jensen (14.34) placed 2nd and 3rd in the 3200m run.
For the Boys, Jake Zaugg tied the school record in the pole vault clearing 12'00 to capture 1st. Zach Watson (10'06), Kyle Arigot (9'00) and Ryan Palmer (9'00) completed the top-four sweep. Hunter Naisbitt won both the shot put (47'08) and discus (125'03). Jordan Peterson had a big PR throw of 41'05 to place 2nd in the shot put and was 4th in the discus (106'09). Wade Rasmussen threw 40'00 to place 4th in the shot put and 111'08 good enough for 3rd in the discus. Derek Gann’s 116'03 was 2nd in the discus and 128'10 placed him 4th in the javelin. Kuyler Thompson came off the injured list to win the javelin with a toss of 141'07. Myles Peterson jumped 19'09 to finish 3rd in the long jump and 5'04 for 3rd in the high jump. It was a good meet with many athletes getting PR’s in their standard events and many others getting good marks in new events.
DAVIS INVITATIONAL
For the most part, this meet was the best the Titans have ever had. Of course there was one extremely sad thing about the meet as Tyrell Yardley, running his 4th race since his injury at Simplot, pulled his hamstring. Hardly anyone in the stadium saw the finish of the 100m dash as most eyes were fixed on Tyrell on the track about 60 meters into the race. Definitely a sad site for all track fans, not just the Titans. Hopefully, some magic can be performed by trainers and he can come back and help the TEAM. His leadership will be there helping us even if the legs aren’t.
Other than the tragic 100, this was the best meet in the young history of Titan Track and Field. Nine school records were set and one tied. 15 State Qualifying marks were attained. The overall performances were outstanding.

Kuyler Thompson threw 155'05 to finish 1st in the javelin and qualify for state. Dillon Cadwell (142'11) and Derek Gann (142'00) finished 4th and 5th. Tyrell Pearce put on a great finish to run 2:03.70 to place 3rd in the 800m run. Chris Brown ran a great SQ mark of 50.03 to win the 400m dash. Brown, Yardley, Chris Jackson and Taylor Russell won the 4x100m relay in 43.17, a school record, state qualifying mark, and the fastest time in Utah this year. Brown, Jackson, Jake Rossmango and Austin Costley ran 3:35.10 to win the medley relay in another school record and SQ time. In the invited section, Costley won the 800m run in 1:57.57, a SQ mark. Preston Williams was right behind in 2:00.07 to place 3rd. Chris Jackson was 4th in the 110m hurdles (15.70). Tanner Russell’s 169'03 in the javelin was a school record, SQ mark, and good enough to place 3rd. Hunter Naisbitt threw 52'00 to win the shot put in another school record and SQ mark. Tyler Siddoway’s 50.85 in the 400m dash put him in 6th place. Siddoway, Williams, Brown and Costley ran 3:25.65 to win the 4x400m relay in yet another school record, SQ, and state leading mark.
These were all great efforts to reach the podium. However, there were many more outstanding things that slide under the radar. How about the starting quarterback and wide receiver running the 4x800m relay? I’m betting that’s never happened in the history of track and field. There were literally dozens of PR’s in the meet. Great weather, great meet, great performances.

Up until now, I think that 90% of your success has been the result of the training and meet performances. Perhaps 10% due to your attention to the “little” things such as nutrition, sleep, injury treatment, etc. At this stage of the season, I believe the “little” things will account for a much larger portion of your success. We are getting close to the end of the season. It is more important now than ever that you watch your nutrition, get plenty of sleep, take care of any little injuries before the get serious, etc. While the workouts are still important, the “little” things become more important. DON”T NEGLECT THE “LITTLE” THINGS!!

Kuyler Thompson threw 155'05 to finish 1st in the javelin and qualify for state. Dillon Cadwell (142'11) and Derek Gann (142'00) finished 4th and 5th. Tyrell Pearce put on a great finish to run 2:03.70 to place 3rd in the 800m run. Chris Brown ran a great SQ mark of 50.03 to win the 400m dash. Brown, Yardley, Chris Jackson and Taylor Russell won the 4x100m relay in 43.17, a school record, state qualifying mark, and the fastest time in Utah this year. Brown, Jackson, Jake Rossmango and Austin Costley ran 3:35.10 to win the medley relay in another school record and SQ time. In the invited section, Costley won the 800m run in 1:57.57, a SQ mark. Preston Williams was right behind in 2:00.07 to place 3rd. Chris Jackson was 4th in the 110m hurdles (15.70). Tanner Russell’s 169'03 in the javelin was a school record, SQ mark, and good enough to place 3rd. Hunter Naisbitt threw 52'00 to win the shot put in another school record and SQ mark. Tyler Siddoway’s 50.85 in the 400m dash put him in 6th place. Siddoway, Williams, Brown and Costley ran 3:25.65 to win the 4x400m relay in yet another school record, SQ, and state leading mark.
These were all great efforts to reach the podium. However, there were many more outstanding things that slide under the radar. How about the starting quarterback and wide receiver running the 4x800m relay? I’m betting that’s never happened in the history of track and field. There were literally dozens of PR’s in the meet. Great weather, great meet, great performances.

Busy week: Tri meet Wednesday, Junior High meet Thursday, Woods Cross Invitational Friday. Monday will be about the only real tough workout day of the week. I can only enter four per event at Woods Cross. I will spread things out to get as many involved as possible.

Up until now, I think that 90% of your success has been the result of the training and meet performances. Perhaps 10% due to your attention to the “little” things such as nutrition, sleep, injury treatment, etc. At this stage of the season, I believe the “little” things will account for a much larger portion of your success. We are getting close to the end of the season. It is more important now than ever that you watch your nutrition, get plenty of sleep, take care of any little injuries before the get serious, etc. While the workouts are still important, the “little” things become more important. DON”T NEGLECT THE “LITTLE” THINGS!!

DAVIS DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIPS
This meet could be titled “The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly”. The “Good” would be the outstanding performances by so many members of the TEAM in competing hard and helping the meet run smooth, and the great efforts by the coaches, parents, administration, secretaries, custodians, etc., in making the meet a success. The “Bad” would be the few Titans that did not fulfill their assignments or obligations to compete. The “Ugly” would be the weather. As a TEAM, we need to work on the “Bad”. We can’t change the “Ugly”- most did the best they could to prepare for the weather. Thus, I’ll focus on the “Good”.
In Girls competition, the Lady Titans finished 3rd, one point behind Viewmont. Davis easily ran away from the competition. All times and marks were influenced by the wind- sometimes helped, but more-so hindered. Jessica Pauni had a good meet winning the shot put (36'03) and placing 3rd in the discus (90'00). Mary Pauni placed 3rd in the shot put (32'11) and 8th in the discus (74'05). Shaelynn Stoddard did a great job to place 8th in the shot put (27'05). Rylee Garver cleared 4'08 to place 4th in the high jump, then ran an outstanding 1:04.25 to finish 5th in the 400m dash. Mayra Franco was 7th in the long jump (15'05) and 3rd in the 100m dash (13.14). To show how much difference the wind can make, Mayra ran 12.44 in the trials when the wind was at her back. She ran into a stiff headwind in the finals. Sasha Russell ran 27.20 to finish 3rd in the 200m dash. Lindsey McFarland won the 400m dash (1:00.46) and was 7th in the 200 (28.31). Shelby Cadwell ran 1:04.78 to place 6th in the 400m dash. Morgan Costley’s 2:38.2 was good enough to finish 6th in the 800m run. Hannah Williams ran tough in the hurricane-force winds to win the 1600m run in 5:37.2. Kiana Tebbs had a big seasonal best time of 12:50.1 to place 8th in the 3200m run. In relay action, Maddie Cook, Sasha, Shelby and Mayra ran 51.57 to place 4th in the 4x100. Maddie, Shelbee Lerohl, Rylee and Hilary Peterson placed 3rd in the medley running 4:39.5. Hilary, Sasha, Shelby and Lindsey ran 4:19.3 to place 3rd in the 4x400. Daylyn Johnston, Morgan, Hilary and Hannah ran 10:51.3 to finish 2nd in the 4x800.
In Boys action, the Titans were 2nd in the TEAM title race. Again, Davis was the big winner. Individually, Jacob Zaugg had a big PR and Class Record jump of 10'06 to place 6th in the pole vault. Hunter Naisbitt threw 49'06 to win the shot put. But that was nothing compared to his 24' PR throw of 154'01 to finish 2nd in the discus. That qualified him for state in the event. Derek Gann had a similar PR of 16' to finish 5th in the javelin with a toss of 146'10. Brandon Jolliffe threw a big PR of 123'04 to place 6th in the discus. Chris Jackson had his best meet of the year placing 4th in the 110m hurdles (16.20) and 2nd in the 300m hurdles (41.63). Tyler Siddoway (51.33) and Chris Brown (52.27) placed 3rd and 4th in the 400m dash. Tyrell Pearce ran a big PR 2:05.7 to finish 4th in the 800m run. Jake Rossmango’s 4:28.3 in the 1600m run placed 3rd, just missing the state qualifying mark. He also finished 6th in the 3200m run. Austin Costley ran 4:27.5 to win the 1600m run then came back to capture the 3200m run in 9:53.8. He also ran a 50.8 split in the 4x400m relay. For these efforts, he was selected as one of the three meet MVP’s. In the relays, Alex Vanderloo, Jayden Peterson, Braxton Lucero and Taylor Russell placed 5th in 45.94. Vanderloo and Jaxon Hansen ran strong legs to lead the medley relay to a 4th place finish. In the 4x400, Rossmango, Brown, Jackson and Costley ran 3:33.1 to place 2nd. Hansen, Pearce, Brock McGibbon and Dylan Rossmango ran 9:11.4 to place 2nd in the 4x800m relay.
In both Boys and Girls, there were many big PR’s that didn’t place but show that with continued improvement, they can really help us by the time Region and State come around. DAVIS DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIPS
This meet could be titled “The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly”. The “Good” would be the outstanding performances by so many members of the TEAM in competing hard and helping the meet run smooth, and the great efforts by the coaches, parents, administration, secretaries, custodians, etc., in making the meet a success. The “Bad” would be the few Titans that did not fulfill their assignments or obligations to compete. The “Ugly” would be the weather. As a TEAM, we need to work on the “Bad”. We can’t change the “Ugly”- most did the best they could to prepare for the weather. Thus, I’ll focus on the “Good”.
In Girls competition, the Lady Titans finished 3rd, one point behind Viewmont. Davis easily ran away from the competition. All times and marks were influenced by the wind- sometimes helped, but more-so hindered. Jessica Pauni had a good meet winning the shot put (36'03) and placing 3rd in the discus (90'00). Mary Pauni placed 3rd in the shot put (32'11) and 8th in the discus (74'05). Shaelynn Stoddard did a great job to place 8th in the shot put (27'05). Rylee Garver cleared 4'08 to place 4th in the high jump, then ran an outstanding 1:04.25 to finish 5th in the 400m dash. Mayra Franco was 7th in the long jump (15'05) and 3rd in the 100m dash (13.14). To show how much difference the wind can make, Mayra ran 12.44 in the trials when the wind was at her back. She ran into a stiff headwind in the finals. Sasha Russell ran 27.20 to finish 3rd in the 200m dash. Lindsey McFarland won the 400m dash (1:00.46) and was 7th in the 200 (28.31). Shelby Cadwell ran 1:04.78 to place 6th in the 400m dash. Morgan Costley’s 2:38.2 was good enough to finish 6th in the 800m run. Hannah Williams ran tough in the hurricane-force winds to win the 1600m run in 5:37.2. Kiana Tebbs had a big seasonal best time of 12:50.1 to place 8th in the 3200m run. In relay action, Maddie Cook, Sasha, Shelby and Mayra ran 51.57 to place 4th in the 4x100. Maddie, Shelbee Lerohl, Rylee and Hilary Peterson placed 3rd in the medley running 4:39.5. Hilary, Sasha, Shelby and Lindsey ran 4:19.3 to place 3rd in the 4x400. Daylyn Johnston, Morgan, Hilary and Hannah ran 10:51.3 to finish 2nd in the 4x800.
In Boys action, the Titans were 2nd in the TEAM title race. Again, Davis was the big winner. Individually, Jacob Zaugg had a big PR and Class Record jump of 10'06 to place 6th in the pole vault. Hunter Naisbitt threw 49'06 to win the shot put. But that was nothing compared to his 24' PR throw of 154'01 to finish 2nd in the discus. That qualified him for state in the event. Derek Gann had a similar PR of 16' to finish 5th in the javelin with a toss of 146'10. Brandon Jolliffe threw a big PR of 123'04 to place 6th in the discus. Chris Jackson had his best meet of the year placing 4th in the 110m hurdles (16.20) and 2nd in the 300m hurdles (41.63). Tyler Siddoway (51.33) and Chris Brown (52.27) placed 3rd and 4th in the 400m dash. Tyrell Pearce ran a big PR 2:05.7 to finish 4th in the 800m run. Jake Rossmango’s 4:28.3 in the 1600m run placed 3rd, just missing the state qualifying mark. He also finished 6th in the 3200m run. Austin Costley ran 4:27.5 to win the 1600m run then came back to capture the 3200m run in 9:53.8. He also ran a 50.8 split in the 4x400m relay. For these efforts, he was selected as one of the three meet MVP’s. In the relays, Alex Vanderloo, Jayden Peterson, Braxton Lucero and Taylor Russell placed 5th in 45.94. Vanderloo and Jaxon Hansen ran strong legs to lead the medley relay to a 4th place finish. In the 4x400, Rossmango, Brown, Jackson and Costley ran 3:33.1 to place 2nd. Hansen, Pearce, Brock McGibbon and Dylan Rossmango ran 9:11.4 to place 2nd in the 4x800m relay.
