STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
WOW!!! What a great meet for the Titans!! In only our second year, we capped off a great season by placing 10th in the Girls 5A, 4th in the Boys, and 5th in the combined results. Not too shabby!!
BIG props to Tyrell Yardley. He had one of the greatest meets in the history of the state. Tyrell won the 100m, 200m, and 400m dashes, all in incredible times. First of all, he won the 100m dash in 10.75. He then won the 400m dash, defeating the two-time 5-A champion, running 47.46. That is the 4th fastest time ever run in Utah. He capped off his great meet by running a State Record 21.48 to win the 200m dash. He ran 21.15 in the trials of the 200, but the wind was over the allowable for record purposes. Six great races in two days.
There were several other incredible performances by the Titans and Lady Titans. Lindsey McFarland also had an incredible meet. She ran 58.84 to finish 4th in the 400m dash and also ran great legs on the medley and 4x400m relays. She joined with Shelby Cadwell, Hilary Peterson and Taylee Hamblin to run 4:20.21 in finishing 4th in the medley relay. Hilary ran her best 400 split (61.9) and Taylee ran a great 2:23.6, 800 to secure the high finish. Lindsey, Shelby, Sasha Russell and McKayla Williams shattered the school record in the 4x400m relay by 5-seconds as their 4:01.76 placed 5th. McKayla’s 58.9 split locked up the points. Hannah Williams also had an outstanding meet. She ran 5:14.26 to finish 7th in the 1600m run, 11:27.72 to place 6th in the 3200m run, and 2:21.28, good enough for 9th in the 800m run. The 800 and 3200 times were PR’s and school records.
For the Boys, Aaron Hill threw 156'00 to place 2nd in the discus. He just missed being a State Champion. Chris Jackson had a good meet finishing 6th in both the 110m hurdles (15.42, school record) and 300m hurdles (41.55). Austin Costley ran a great race to place 5th in the 800m run in 1:57.79. Hunter Naisbitt threw 46'04.50 to place 8th in the shot put. Not bad for a sophomore. Tyler Siddoway, Anthony Winegar, Chris Smith and Jake Rossmango ran a great race in the medley relay trials turning in a time of 3:35.91. A bad exchange in the finals prevented them from possibly finishing first. Their trial time was easily a school record.
While individually there may have been a few setbacks at State, as a TEAM and a new program, the meet was an outstanding success. It was great to have so many down there supporting those who were competing.

Aaron Hill threw 150'01 to place second in the discus. He had a throw of 160' that was erased because of a foul. The long layoff from throwing hard has paid off as he has had to focus on technique.
For the Girls, Hilary Peterson, Shelby Cadwell, McKayla Williams and Hannah Williams ran 4:18.75 to win the medley relay. That is a school record and the fastest time run in Utah this year. The 4x400m relay team of Hilary, Shelby, McKayla and Lindsey McFarland ran 4:08.54 to place 6th. Jessica Pauni threw 37'08 to finish 3rd in the shot put. McKayla Williams ran 47.31 to set a school record in the 300m hurdles.
With over 50 schools in the field, the Girls finished 10th and the boys 13th.
