Titan Track Bulletin - April 27, 2009

GREAT week for Titan Track and Field. 13 school records were set and dozens of PR's established. Things are beginning to fall into place for Region and State. Everyone needs to continue to work hard and get healthy. Take care of yourself: no more injuries and no more illnesses. Get plenty of sleep, eat right, stay hydrated, re-hab injuries, train SMART, take care of the "little" things.

DAVIS HIGH INVITATIONAL
The Titans had a great meet at the 52nd Davis High Invitational Saturday. Nine school records were set and many more PR’s established. The meet was actually like two meets with the Invited portion open to only the elite in the state. The Open portion of the meet is for athletes that are just a notch below.
In the Open meet, Ashley Hunzeker won the javelin with a throw of 96'01, a school record. Mary Pauni threw 33'05 to place 5th in the shot put. McKayla Williams placed 6th in the 300m hurdles running 48.82. Shelby Cadwell’s 1:01.80 in the 400m dash placed 6th. Tanner Burton placed 3rd in the long jump with a leap of 20'02.50, a school record. Kuyler Thompson finished 6th in the javelin throwing 138'02. Spencer Cook cleared 11'06 in the pole vault to set a school record and finish 5th. The medley relay team of Chris Smith, Chris Jackson, Anthony Winegar and Austin Costley ran 3:40.86 to finish 1st and set a school record. Jackson also ran 15.69 to place 2nd in the 110m hurdles.
In the Invited portion of the meet, Megan Butler cleared 7'06 to finish 7th and set a school record in the pole vault. Jessica Pauni threw 37'05.50 to place 4th in the shot put and 101'04 in the discus to finish 6th. Lindsey McFarland ran 1:00.07 to place 5th in the 400m dash. The medley relay team of Lindsey, Shelby, McKayla Williams and Taylee Hamblin ran 4:25.81 to finish 2nd in the medley relay. Lindsey, Shelby, McKayla and Hilary Peterson finished 3rd in the 4x400m relay running 4:08.42, another school record.
In the boys Invited, Tyrell Yardley won both the 100m and 200m dashes, setting school and meet records in both events. He just missed the state records. His record times were 10.67 and 21.54. Tyrell was named the meet’s Outstanding Athlete for his great performances. Chris Jackson ran 42.40 to place 7th in the 300m hurdles. Yardley, Jackson, Chris Smith and Anthony Winegar placed 4th in the 4x400m relay in a school record time of 3:26.11. Smith, Winegar, Tyler Siddoway and Chris Brown ran 44.74 to place 5th in the 4x100m relay. Siddoway also finished 8th in the javelin with a throw of 137'10. Tanner Burton’s 6'00 in the high jump was good enough for 4th place.
