Update

Titan Track Bulletin - April 6, 2009

DAVIS DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Titans continued their impressive performances at the Davis District Championships held Tuesday and Wednesday at Syracuse. The Girls finished 4th behind Davis, Viewmont and Bountiful. The Boys were 2nd behind Davis. Davis County schools traditionally have the strongest Track and Field programs in the state and to finish that high is a great honor.
Lindsey McFarland continued to impress as she won the 400m dash (59.75) and ran legs on the winning Medley (4:34.43) and 2nd place 4x400 (4:11.39) Relays. Hannah Williams won the 800m run (2:24.7) and was 3rd in the 1600m run (5:19.34, school record). Jessica Pauni was 3rd in the shot put (34'03) and 3rd in the discus (97'07). Ashley Hunzeker placed 6th in the javelin (85'05) and 4th in the discus (90'11). Sasha Russell was 7th in the 100m hurdles (17.30) and 300m hurdles (52.67). Russell, Franco, Kelsey Westbroek and Shelby Cadwell placed 3rd in the 4x100m relay (52.45). McFarland, Cadwell, Hilary Peterson and Taylee Hamblin won the medley relay in 4:34.43. Peterson, Cadwell, McFarland and Hailey Judd ran 4:11.39 to place 2nd in the 4x400m relay. Aubrey Eddy, Daylyn Johnston, Haley Busby and Ashley VanCanneyt ran 12:07 to place 4th in the 4x800m relay.
Tyrell Yardley had another great meet in winning the 100m (10.68, wind aided) and 200m dashes (21.93, meet record). He also teamed up with Anthony Winegar, Chris Jackson and Chris Smith to win the 4x100m relay (43.86, school record) and 4x400m relay (3:27.53, school record). He won both the Outstanding Athlete and Outstanding Performance awards. Winegar, Smith, Ryan McNeill and Willis Ellsworth placed 5th in the medley relay in 3:53.88. Ellsworth, Weston Atkins, Jake Rossmango and Dallin Riggs ran 8:54.7 to place 3rd in the 4x800m relay. Aaron Hill came through in the clutch winning the discus on his last throw with a school record 152'09". He also placed 5th in the shot put. Hunter Naisbitt was 3rd in the shot put (45'00). Tyler Siddoway won the javelin with a 14' PR and school record toss of 153'07. Kuyler Thompson threw 139'05 to place 3rd in the javelin and 112'01 to finish 6th in the discus. Spencer Cook and Ryan McNeill cleared 10' and 9'06 to finish 5th and 6th in the pole vault. Tanner Burton was 7th in the high jump (5'10) and 5th in the long jump (19'07.50, school record). Chris Jackson was 3rd in the 110m hurdles in a school record 15.84. School records were also set by Jake Rossmango with his 4th place finish in the 1600m run (4:45.15) and Austin Costley with his 4th place finish in the 800m run (2:03.93). Chris Brown’s 45.11 was good enough to place 6th in the 300m hurdles.
These were some very impressive performances for this early in the year and when considering the weather we have trained in and the weather we had to compete in. The meet showed we are on the road to some better performances as the season goes on.

THANKS!!!
A huge thanks to all of the coaches and athletes for helping put on such a class meet. The coaches from the other teams had nothing but praise for the efforts all of you put forth. Also a big thanks for those who sponsored events. Your contributions will really help our program.

ANOTHER THANKS!!
The names mentioned in these updates are usually the same each week. They are the ones who work hard and their efforts result in placing high in their events. However, there are many more who work just as hard and their names haven’t made it into the weekly Bulletin— YET!! Keep up the great efforts. Those placing high do so because so many of you push and support them. You make us a much better TEAM!!!

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Chosen as the Athletes of the Week were Shelby Cadwell, Tyler Siddoway and Aaron Hill.

STATE RANKINGS and RESULTS
The following web site posts results and rankings from around Utah. There are still some errors, but it’s neat to see how high the Titans rank against the rest of the state. Check it out.
